Google Adsense for Referrals were Retiring

YES YOU HEARD IT RIGHT!! Google adsense for referrals will be retiring from its Referral Program!

As they have sent an email to all those adsense refferal users.

Here's the email from Google adsense:

Hello,

Thank you for participating in the AdSense Referrals program.
We’re writing to let you know that we will be retiring the AdSense
Referrals program during the last week of August. We appreciate
your patience during this transition and here are some alternative
options to consider:

   * Google Affiliate Network: As part of the integration of
DoubleClick, the DoubleClick Performics Affiliate Network will now
operate as the Google Affiliate Network for advertisers targeting
users located in the United States. Similar to the AdSense
Referrals program, the Google Affiliate Network enables publishers
to apply for advertiser programs and get paid based on
advertiser-defined actions instead of clicks or impressions. For
further details, please visit:
www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork.
   * AdSense for content ads: If you have less than three AdSense
for content ad units on a page, you may wish to replace the
referral ad units with standard AFC ad units.

If you currently use referral ads, either to promote Google
products or offerings from AdWords advertisers, AdSense Referrals
code will no longer display ads beginning the last week of August.
We encourage you to take the following steps before the product is
retired:

   * Remove the referral code from your site(s): Please take a
moment to remove all referral code from your sites before the last
week of August, so you can continue to effectively monetize your
ad space.
   * Run and save all referrals reports on your desktop: Create
and save all reports related to the referrals program on your
desktop, so you continue to have access to your valuable campaign
information

Why is this happening?
We're constantly looking for ways to improve AdSense by developing
and supporting features which drive the best monetization results
for our publishers. Sometimes, this requires retiring existing
features so we can focus our efforts on the ones that will be most
effective in the long term.  For this reason, we will be retiring
the AdSense Referrals program. If you have any additional
questions, please visit our Help Center:
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/topic.py?topic=14882

Sincerely.

The Google AdSense Team

Fast Ethernet Technology

The growing importance of LANs and the increasing complexity of desktop computing applications are fuelling the need for high performance networks. 100BASE-T (Fast Ethernet) provides a cost-effective and high -performance solution for small workgroups, SMBs (Small to Medium Businesses), and any network supporting bandwith-intensive applications. Fast Ethernet technology operates at 10 times the speed of traditional Ethernet, offering maximum performance and enhanced capability for existing Ethernet-based networks.

100Mbps Fast Ethernet is a standard specified by the IEEE 802.3 LAN Committee. It is an extension of the 10Mbps Ethernet standard with the ability to transmit and received data at 100 mbps, while maintainging the CSMA/CD Ethernet Protocol. Since the 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet is compatible with all other 10Mbps Ethernet environments, it provides a straightforward upgrade path and takes advantage of the existing investment in the hardware, software, and personnel training.

Tips on buying LCD Monitor

Here are some tips in buying LCD Monitor..:

Backlight Warranty - Generally, the flourescent lamp is the first thing to go on LCD displays. The easier it is to replace the flourescent lamp, the better. Either that or check he warranty o ensure that this is covered.

Dead Pixels - This is one of the more typical problems associated with LCD displays. Dead pixels refer to individual pixels that may be permanently stuck in an on or off state. These pixel defects are generally covered by manufacturer warranties (because doing so would raise the price of LCD displays significantly), so the best thing to do is to test your LCD monitor before buying and inspecting every square inch of the display.

Speakers - Many LCD moniors try to offer a higher perceived value by coming with built-in or auxiliary speakers. As a rule, ignore them. Most onboard or free speakers provide sub-par audio quality, so you are generally better off just buying your own set of speakers anyway.

Native Resolution - Unlike CRT displays, LCD monitors have a native resolution, which is the actual number of pixels on the monitor's display. While LCD screen can rescale PC images to fit the native resolution, the result aren't sharp. You would therefore want to choose an LCD monitor that offers a native resolution that would be comfortable with. The larger the monitor size, the greater the native resolution should be.

How to center an image or advertisement in you website?

Some of bloggers like me (I'm an Accountant and I have learned PC troubleshooting and repair  by online) has a little knowledge in terms of html. So just yesterday when I'm looking at my site I've noticed that centering an ads on my site will give much more perspective. And to those who haven't learned it yet... study with me as I'am learning HTML online.

This is how to center your advertisement, links etc at your side bar.

Just add, <center> before the html and </center> after html. example you got a google ads that you want to center:

<center><script type="text/javascript">
<!--
google_ad_client = "pub-6626522695009490";
/* 160x600, created 6/9/08 */
google_ad_slot = "8750499228";
google_ad_width = 160;
google_ad_height = 600;
//-->
</script><script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script></center>

Always be aware on SPYWARE

Spyware is like a common flu. If you didn't  do anything it will be too dangerous. If you ignore it, your system starts o drag a little and hen a lot... and then things start getting weird, with loads of pop-ups, maybe a changed browdser home page. Of course, your immune system will wipe out your flu eventually whereas spyware tends to get worse and worse, often inviting its spyware buddies to little parasites parties on your system.

So, how do you pick up spyware? About as easily as a flu - all you have to do is browse the Web for a while. REMEMBER, "NOT ALL FREEWARE IS REALLY FREE." - in some cases, you pay by getting spyware along with it. If you use a peer-to-peer file sharing program, you almost certainly have spyware, either directly bundled with the sharing program or from an infected fellow file sharer.

HERE are some steps to minimize he risk of flu.

1. Don't take any candy from strangers: if you didn't specifically request a download, don't click on OK button to tell your browser the you want the download.

2. If it's spam, dont click: It wont enhance your love life or your hairline, but it may load malicious code on your system.

3. Don't invite anyone in: Set Internet Explorer to prompt you when sites attempt to push Active X conrols onto your machine - and to reject unsigned active X controls automatically (click Tools (located at the above of your browser) - then Internet Options -  then Security - then Custom settings).

4. Don't give it all up: If you must use a file sharing application, at least set it not to share your entire harddrive. In fact, consider keeping any files you might want to share in one specific folder, and the setting the application to share only that folder. At the very least, exclude all system folders (anything within C:\Windows) from file sharing.

Uses of Switch in networking

Switching is a cost-effective way of increasing the total network capacity available to users on a LAN. If an Ethernet network begins to display:

1. symptoms of congestion,
2. low throughput,
3. slow response times
4. high rates of collision

Installing a switch to a network can preserve much or all of the existing network's cabling and workstation interface card infrastructure, while still greatly enhancing the throughput for users. A switch is a viable solution even if demanding applications, such a multimedia production and video conferencing, are on the horizon. The most promising techniques, as well as the best return on investment, could well consist of installing the right mixture of Ethernet switches.

A switch increase capacity and decrease network loading by dividing a local area network into different LAN segments. Dividing a LAN into multiple segments is one of the most common ways of increasing available bandwidth. If segmented correctly, most network traffic will remain withing a single segment, enjoying the full line speed bandwidth of that segment.

Switches provide full line speed and dedicated bandwidth for all connections. This is in contrast o hubs, which use th traditional shared networking topology, where the connected nodes contend for the same network bandwidth. When two switching nodes are communicating, they are connected wit a dedicated channel between them, so there is no connection for network bandwidth with other nodes. And as a result, the switch reduces considerably , the likelihood of traffic congestion.

For Ethernet networks, a switch is an effective way of eliminating the problem of chaining hubs beyond the "two-repeater limit." A switch can be used to split parts of th network into different collection domains, making it possible to expand your Ethernet network diameter limit for base 100BASE-TX networks. Switches supporting both 10Mbps Ethernet and 100Mbps Fast Ethernet are also ideal for bridging between existing 10Mbps networks and newer 100Mbps networks.

Switching LAN technology is a marked improvement over the previous generation of networks hubs and brides, which were characterized by higher latencies. Routers have also been used to segment local area networks. Today switches are an ideal solution for mos kinds of local area network congestion problems.

I have uses both router (D-link DI 604) and switch (D-link DES 1008D) here at our internet cafe. I prefer this brand due to economical and quality.

How to create a shortcut to shutdown

We all have always doing of having to click on Start to shutdown our computers. But did you know that you can create a shortcut that will automatically shut down your PC, log you off or reboot.

First Right-click on the desktop and choose New / shortcut. Browse to the file C:\\Windows\System32\Shutdown.exe, click Next, name the shortcut, and click Finish.Properties. In the Target Box, append the command line -1 (to log off), -s (to shutdown), or -r (to reboot).

If you also add the switch -t xx (where xx is a number of seconds), Shutdown.exe will display warning and countdown before activating. You can specify a comment to be displayed with warning by adding the -c "your text". The countdown behavior is particularly useful if the shutdown is launched through the Scheduled Tasks applet. Once it's activated, the only way to stop the program is to launch it again with the -a (for abort) switch on its command line - you might create a seperate Cancel Shutdown
Now right click on the new shortcut and choose shortcut for that.

How to troubleshoot your network problem

Just this day I got a problem with my online network so I decided to write this helpful stuff.

When you encounter a network problem, some of these command line tools can help you narrow down the source. From the command  prompt in the accessories of your windows:

ping ipaddress ( for example, ping 192.168.0.1) shows whether your computer can contact another computer or network device at a specific IP address. First ping your router to see if your LAN is working, then ping something on the Internet to see if the problem is outside.

netstat gives you a list of all the active TCP/IP ports on your system - this is very useful in  detecting whether a trojan horse has commandeered your  system.

ipconfi /all shows all your computer's IP-related settings. If your computer is having trouble getting online, try ipconfig /renew to refresh your IP address or get a new one.

tracert ip address (for example, tracert 192.168.0.101) reveals every router hop from your PC to another computer or network device. If you start seeing dropped responses, you may be able to tell wether the problem is local.

Hope this some useful tips will help you in troubleshooting your network problems. And if you find this helpful why not subscribe to my RSS feeds and be updated on my post.
